FOURTEEN VARIATIONS OF THE INTIMATE
An international collective of filmmakers and archivists have been re-working previously unseen 8 and Super 8 home movies from the Peruvian domestic archives into an omnibus film of correspondences (which will also include letters between each collaborating filmmaker). This project of invited filmmakers, led by Stephen Broomer and José Sarmiento-Hinojosa, is screening initially as a work in progress at MUTA Festival Internacional de Apropiación Audiovisual on Saturday 11th Sept, 2021. For my section, above, I have worked with sunspots, eclipses, and the digital/physical assemblage of the film picture, building on themes in the letters around travel and the public and private space-and-time of the amateur home movie.
